The Art of Campaign Propaganda, Obama and the Terrorist

“Take the Cuffs Off” Let’s she who she really is?

Make no mistake about it the art of modern propaganda and campaign strategies is a very real and dangerous craft. I really didn’t want to write about the subject any longer, but I find myself torn between art and the election rhetoric this week. I am struggling to understand the most important issues facing us as a society today. Struggling with the idea that “We The People”, will make the most important decision of our time and that, that decision, that choice, each one of will make, will directly effect every one of us in a very real and uncertain future. And a fundamental belief that a patriot should not be silent during difficult times. That as a patriot I have an obligation to really look deeply into the facts that will govern my decision of who I will have govern me and you. This weekend Sarah Palin accused Obama of “palling around with terrorist” In reference to his acquaintance to Bill Ayers a former Weatherman, a member of the Weather Underground a militant anti Vietnam War movement of the 60s. Obama and Ayers served on a school reform board in Chicago together, with other board members. I guess school reform is an act of terrorism. The trick of the McCain campaign is to tarnish Obama’s character. The scheme is designed around a propaganda campaign of half truths of lies of guilt by association to detract from the issues at hand, the economy, the war, health care, civil and human rights.

If you will allow me just another moment I would like to dissect this piece of crap propaganda from where I see it. Sarah Palin calls Bill Ayers a domestic terrorist. Why because he planned to take up arms against what he believed was a government out of control during the Vietnam era. Sarah Palin also strongly supports the Second Amendment of the American Constitution, the Right to Bare Arms. In fact it is a core McCain Campaign value. Why do we need the second amendment, why would we need to bare arms. To protect the Republic the Democracy of the People. So if you the Gun Owner decided to take up arms against your elected government, because you felt it was your duty as a patriot you would I am sure as the sun will rise, will be considered a domestic terrorist. In fact if you follow the guilt by association tactic, you as a member of the NRA are a conspirator to Domestic Terrorism. The right to own a gun is for the expressed purpose of defending your constitutional values. I can only assume that if you decide to take up arms in defense of your democracy that the elected government has severely deviated from your core beliefs and are not acting in your behalf. So the argument, the propaganda does not fit the core ideas that Palin says she holds. Now I don’t advocate violence in any form. I also do not advocate for Bill Ayers or his actions. On the other hand Ayers paid for his crimes and is a contributing member of society today. I guess that others in our history that would be labeled as “Domestic Terrorist” are George Washington, Jefferson, Adams and guilt by association Benjamin Franklin. I have no doubt that King George believed this to be true. It is all about how you paint the picture in the propaganda game.

The other question I asked myself is could John McCain get away with these accusations against Obama? Could Mr. McCain make these kind of statements and still be considered a viable candidate for President of the Untied States. For me the answer is NO he could not and that is why Sarah Palin is there. Her words are dismissive, she is just a Six Pack Hockey Mom. Well folks she is one heart beat away from becoming your next President. Yes Palin can get away with it, no one takes her serious, but she is a serious issue. I would urge you all to begin to look deeply at the issues, at the facts. Not one of these candidates are perfect, but some are out right dangerous to your liberty, your freedom. Enough Propaganda, I want to hear about the issues, I want to hear substance in the candidates plans to address the current crisis’s we face as a nation; and there and many today. I hope McCain and Obama take the gloves off Tuesday and get down and real so we can all see who has the right stuff. Oh and please let us get away from the idea that Sarah Palin represents a base that is too dumb to think for themselves. Even if you don’t read you know when you are broke, unemployed, in debt over your head, sick without health care or homeless. Give me a F ing Break.

As a footnote: I think just about everyone in Montana is pro NRA and owns a gun.
